Lahore (Staff Reporter): The intra-party elections of the Islami Jamhoori Ittehad (IJI) have been successfully concluded in accordance with democratic and organizational traditions, resulting in the formal announcement of the party’s central leadership and office-bearers.

According to the election results, Allama Zubair Ahmed Zaheer has been elected as Central President, while Professor Adnan Faisal has assumed the position of Secretary General. Other key office-bearers include Mian Shafiq Barkat as Senior Vice President, Hakeem Allah Rakha as Vice President, Dr. Markus Fida as Joint Secretary, Professor Naeem Hafeez as Finance Secretary, and Ahsan Elahi Zaheer as Secretary Information.
Party sources stated that the intra-party elections were conducted through a transparent, well-organized, and dignified process, with active participation from party members and representatives. The electoral exercise emphasized consultation, consensus, and adherence to organizational principles, reflecting the party’s commitment to democratic continuity and institutional strength. Observers noted that the process sets a positive precedent for internal democracy within political parties.
Following the successful completion of the elections, newly elected President Allama Zubair Ahmed Zaheer addressed the media, stating that the party would continue its struggle for the enforcement of an Islamic system, the supremacy of the Constitution and law, and the welfare of the people. He underscored that the party firmly believes in the complete eradication of sectarianism, religious extremism, and political violence, describing these as major impediments to national progress.
“Extremism—whether in the name of politics or religion—must be eliminated,” he said. “We advocate moderation, tolerance, and dialogue, and urge all political and religious forces, as well as the government, to adopt the path of balance in order to steer the country out of its prevailing crises.”
Expressing serious concern over the country’s economic situation, Allama Zaheer stated that inflation, unemployment, and the soaring prices of essential commodities have made life increasingly difficult for ordinary citizens. He added that the continuous rise in petroleum and electricity prices has particularly burdened the middle and lower-middle classes, while the extravagant lifestyle of the ruling elite remains a source of public resentment.
He announced that the Islami Jamhoori Ittehad would launch a nationwide movement against inflation, rising energy costs, and economic injustice, vowing to raise the voice of the people effectively at every forum. He emphasized that the party would pursue all constitutional and democratic avenues to safeguard public rights and ensure economic equity.
Commenting on the political landscape, he observed that opposition parties appear to have failed in playing an effective role, resulting in political stagnation. He stressed that a national dialogue is essential to resolve the ongoing political deadlock and to strengthen democratic processes in the country.
On foreign affairs and national security, Allama Zaheer reiterated that Pakistan is a peace-loving country seeking stability in the region; however, there can be no compromise on national sovereignty and territorial integrity. He accused India of sponsoring terrorism, creating instability, engaging in cross-border targeted killings, and running misleading campaigns at the international level.
Referring to what he termed as India’s setbacks in the “battle of truth,” he said the frustration of Indian leadership has become evident. He affirmed that the entire Pakistani nation stands united with its brave armed forces and is prepared to confront any external threats.
In conclusion, he reaffirmed the party’s commitment to advancing Islamic values, democratic principles, and patriotism, pledging continued efforts for the country’s development, stability, and public welfare.
