Barcelona: The funeral prayer of prominent Pakistani businessman Muhammad Nauman Qaiser was held in Barcelona on Sunday amid profound grief and mourning. Hundreds of people from the Pakistani community, business fraternity, and various walks of life attended the ceremony and offered condolences to the bereaved family. Qaiser’s mortal remains were flown from Pakistan to Spain a few days ago. After the funeral prayers, he was laid to rest at a local cemetery in Barcelona. The atmosphere during the Namaz-e-Janaza remained somber as attendees expressed deep sorrow over the businessman’s sudden and mysterious death. The family strongly rejected the narrative of a “police encounter,” terming it a well-planned and orchestrated killing.
Speaking to reporters, family members claimed that Nauman Qaiser had been acquitted by courts in multiple cases. They alleged that the Lahore High Court and other superior courts had repeatedly issued clear directives to law enforcement agencies not to harass him or implicate him in false cases. Despite these judicial orders, new cases were registered against him in his absence, and more cases were allegedly fabricated while he was in custody. The family further revealed that they had repeatedly approached the courts, warning that Nauman Qaiser faced a serious threat of being killed in a fake police encounter. However, these warnings were allegedly ignored, and the incident occurred despite explicit court instructions. The grieving family has announced its intention to challenge the entire matter in the superior judiciary and vowed to wage a full legal battle to secure justice.
Meanwhile, the Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) Punjab has categorically denied any involvement in the incident, stating that the department had no role in the businessman’s death. The family’s explosive allegations have sparked widespread concern not only in Pakistan but also among the Pakistani diaspora in Spain and across Europe. Legal experts and the business community are now demanding a transparent, impartial, and high-level investigation into the circumstances surrounding Nauman Qaiser’s death.
