Government announces increase in petrol price by Rs 137 and diesel price by Rs 184

Islamabad (Pakistan Time) The government has significantly increased the prices of petrol and diesel in the dark of night,under which petrol has become more expensive by Rs 137.23 per liter to Rs 458.40 and diesel has become more expensive by Rs 184.49 per liter to Rs 520.35 per liter.Petroleum Minister Ali Pervez Malik said that this difficult but necessary step has been taken due to the rising global energy prices and the effects of the ongoing war in the region.
According to the details,the federal government has announced new rates by significantly increasing the prices of petrol and diesel, under which the price of petrol was increased by Rs 137.23 per liter and after that the new price of petrol was fixed at Rs 458.40 per liter. Minister of Petroleum Ali Pervaiz Malik told a press conference along with the Finance Minister that the price of diesel was increased by Rs 184.49 per liter, after which the new price of diesel became Rs 520.35 per liter. He explained that this decision was inevitable due to the rising energy prices globally and the ongoing war in the region.

Ali Pervaiz Malik said that the war has engulfed the entire world and especially the region and its effects have appeared in the form of a record increase in fuel prices in the country. On this occasion, he thanked the President, Chief Ministers and coalition parties for their cooperation and said that the government is ready to take difficult but responsible decisions.

The Petroleum Minister further said that the Prime Minister has also reduced the salaries of cabinet members as part of the austerity campaign and at this time the nation is in dire need of unity so that the country can effectively face this energy crisis. He appealed to the people to understand the government’s steps in the current global and regional circumstances and cooperate in the national interest, so that the effects of the increasing energy burden and price hike can be reduced.
